German tourists are among the foreign visitors who spend the most during their stay in Italy.
This is evident from data processed by Vamonos-Vacanze.it based on Bank of Italy sources (March 2024).
In the last year, German tourists have spent a total of 8 billion euros in our country (+5.1% compared to 2019, the last pre-pandemic year). Dividing this figure by the number of overnight stays, the average spending per night is 124 euros.
There is also growth in American tourists, who have registered a significant increase in spending totaling 6.5 billion euros (+17% compared to the pre-pandemic year). «The average spending per night of Americans is very high, amounting to 188.50 euros,» observe analysts at Vamonos-Vacanze.it. This value is only surpassed by Japanese visitors (263.90 euros), but with a much lower total expenditure (equal to 0.7 billion euros) and by Swiss tourists (205.70 euros) with a total expenditure of 2.1 billion euros.
