Giada D’Antonio: A Rising Star in Italian Skiing

Giada D’Antonio has won two Italian titles in the Junior category at the Italian Championships that have just concluded in the Paganella ski area in Andalo, Trentino. She won in the Super-G and Giant Slalom specialties. The slalom title eluded her due to an accident in the first run of the final event, but she also recorded the best time in the Ski Cross trials, the first scheduled event which was then cancelled. The athlete from the Vesuvio ski club was 9 years old when she won, in 2018, the national final of the Pinocchio and the Gran Premio Giovanissimi in the Baby 1 category. The following year she also won the national title in the Baby 2 category (under 10). In 2020, the competitions were not held due to the pandemic, but in 2021 she won the national championship in the Cuccioli 2 category (under 12) and since then has climbed to the top step of the podium at least once every season. In fact, her palmares includes at least one Italian title every year and in 2022 she also won an international title in the Pinocchio Giant and the following year she won two, in addition to two international golds at Pinocchio and two at Alpe Cimbra, in SL and GS. Fourteen years old in May, Italian father and Colombian mother, when she is not on the snow she lives in San Sebastiano al Vesuvio and is an endless talent. Admired by the entire White circus, the Italian skiing Black Panther who continues to amaze even when she does not win, to remind us that she is not infallible. The Campania Committee participated in the Italian Championships with a squad of 34 athletes and in addition to the Italian title, achieved 12 positions in the top 30 in the ranking, including an excellent fifth place in slalom and 14th in the giant by Giovanni Rossiello of SAI, in the Boys category, and his clubmate, Laura Grande Giacomelli, who finished 12th in slalom, 25th in super-G, and 18th in skicross.
