At first glance, it seems like a scene from an American B-movie, but upon closer inspection, it's a snapshot of an ordinary afternoon shift. Not overseas, but in Marigliano. A van loaded with dairy products revs its engine to thousands of RPMs, speeding along the roads of the north-eastern province of Naples. A small white car also speeding makes way for it.
They are fleeing from the local carabinieri. The van is stolen, and the car is already seized. Two patrols are in pursuit because, just before, the driver of the commercial vehicle found himself having to walk back to the company. He didn't manage to unload all the contents of the van before someone broke the lock and fled, including mozzarellas and caciotta cheeses. The chase lasted for several kilometers, up to via 11 settembre.
The military, aided by the collaboration of other patrols deployed in the territory, blocked the road to the two vehicles and arrested the fugitives. In handcuffs are Armando and Simone Vinciguerra and Enrico Lentini. All from Naples and already known to the law enforcement: the first two from San Giovanni a Teduccio, the latter from the Vasto district. They will have to answer for aggravated theft. They are now in a security cell, waiting for the summary trial.
