Homeowner Thwarts Burglary with Timely Call to Authorities

Last night, around 8 PM, the owner of an apartment within a condominium park, who was at home at the time, requested the intervention of the carabinieri at "112". The man, in a clear state of agitation, reported to the operator of the operational center of the Company of Caserta that two criminals, having descended from a Smart car in which they had left a third accomplice, had just climbed over the fence of his home and were trying to enter the house. It took only a few minutes for the soldiers of the local Station to reach the reported address where two of the three criminals, noticing the arrival of the military, ran away on foot. The third, however, attempted to start the engine of the Smart car but the carabinieri blocked his way. The young man, a 26-year-old Albanian with no fixed abode, was immediately stopped. On board the car, handcrafted burglary tools, plastic gloves, and a neck warmer were found and seized. The arrest was validated the next morning: detention for one year and 9 months, suspended sentence, and a ban on residing in Campania. Investigations are underway to identify the fugitives.
