In the last days of the hunting season, which ends on February 10, the hunting and zoological guards of Lipu Campania, coming from Naples, are carrying out checks on hunters in the province of Benevento to verify compliance with laws and regulations on hunting. The hunting guards of Lipu, coordinated by Giuseppe Salzano, have checked several hunters and some have been administratively sanctioned. They also carried out checks on the registry of hunting dogs in tow. During the 2023-24 hunting season, several checks were carried out in Sannio by the Lipu Campania guard unit, which also and above all involved the area of the «Beneventane Wetlands» protection oasis, which has been monitored by Lipu for more than ten years. The oasis covers 853 hectares of territory along 17 kilometers of the Calore river, but also several confluences such as those with the San Nicola, the Sabato, the Corvo-Serretelle and the Ienga. In this territory where hunting is prohibited, the hunting guards of Lipu Campania coming from Naples were accompanied by the Lipu delegate of the Benevento Section, Marcello Stefanucci, who led them in different environments of the Oasis.
The Lipu hunting controls started from the first Sunday when you could go hunting, that is September 17, 2023 (third Sunday in September according to law 157 of 1992), almost 5 months ago, and have continued. Even after the hunting season, Lipu will not lower its guard and the Benevento section will ensure that hunting controls, thanks to the Lipu Campania guard unit, continue both in the «Beneventane Wetlands» Oasis and in neighboring territories, as well as in other areas of the province, to counteract any acts of poaching.
