Illegal Hunting Activity Leads to Arrest and Seizure in Italy

The military personnel of the Carabinieri Forestry Unit of Casamicciola, of the CITES grouping - S.o.a.r.d.a. (Operational Section against Poaching and Crimes against Animals) in Rome, together with the anti-poison and anti-poaching canine units of the Carabinieri Forestry Unit of Frosolone (Is), have arrested a 61-year-old man from Forio d'Ischia, caught engaging in hunting activities during the general prohibition period. Upon seeing the military personnel, the man threatened one of them but was disarmed. The military also proceeded with a house search, finding several frozen carcasses of birds belonging to protected species, as well as 36 rounds of ammunition that were seized. The man was placed under house arrest.
