Illegal Textile Factory Uncovered for Tax Evasion and Unlawful Waste Disposal

The textile factory was completely illegal and lacked even a VAT number. It was the forest rangers of the Marigliano and Roccarainola units who carried out the inspection as part of a broader operation to control the underground economy in order to prevent the illegal dumping of waste from textile production. The military also found an uncontrolled deposit of special and non-hazardous waste, consisting of textile scraps lying inside the premises used as a factory. The waste deposit and the premises of about 200 square meters, owned by a 56-year-old local woman, were seized along with the professional equipment found. The owner was fined an administrative penalty of 1,000 euros and was reported in a state of freedom to the competent judicial authority for illegal waste management. According to the forest rangers of the Naples group, the phenomenon of the underground economy is very widespread in the Neapolitan hinterland, involving small companies that evade taxes and dump waste illegally and uncontrollably.
