On January 26, in the Conference Room of the Iuad headquarters in Corso Lucci, the inauguration of the academic year 2023/24 was celebrated, highlighting the importance of internationalization, cross-competence and innovation. The event “Meet Iuad” continues to strengthen the bond between students and professionals in the fields of design, audiovisual, visual communication and fashion.

Experts of the caliber of Manuela Ravasio, Director of Marie Claire Italia; Matteo Minà, Fashion Journalist; Nicola Cellemme, Executive Creative Director at Armando Testa; and Carlo Biasia, Special Projects Architect at Interni Magazine, participated in the event, moderated by journalist Cinzia Malvini of L7. The speakers shared their professional experiences, underlining the importance of versatility of skills and openness to new future challenges.

A central theme of the debate was the use of artificial intelligence, which in the last year has also become part of the teaching at Iuad. The guests expressed their opinion on the subject; for Matteo Minà the culture of work, knowledge and empathy that is a unique peculiarity of the human being, remain and will always be central in the world of fashion and beyond. Manuela Ravasio highlighted the collaborative potential of A.I. tools, defining them as “accomplices” and not “enemies” of professionals. Nicola Cellemme, today in the agency a point of reference in the AI field, showed, with some examples, how the various artificial intelligence tools, offer the possibility to see their ideas realized in real time, to understand immediately if they can work or not. According to the Creative Director the AI will not replace the work of creatives but will create new professional profiles that interact with it. The debate concludes with Carlo Biasia stating that technological tools are a stimulus and a help for students and design professionals but cannot disregard culture, know-how and knowledge, always keeping a close eye on the past and history.

After the intervention of the experts, institutional greetings from the teaching director Giuseppina Auricchio followed, who wished the students of the two locations in Naples and Milan, to develop during their training course courage, curiosity and above all a great determination, a characteristic to be preserved also in the career.

At the end of the event, final greetings were given by Michele Lettieri, President of the Academy, Claudio Durigon, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies and Chiara Marciani, Councilor for youth and work policies of the Municipality of Naples who emphasized the importance of promoting and supporting increasingly technical and specialized training, remembering the fundamental role that design and Made in Italy play in the Italian economic panorama.

President Michele Lettieri, greeting the guests, addressed all the students inviting them to overcome their personal but also geographical limits, allowing themselves to be contaminated by other cultures, learning new techniques and trends with a careful eye also towards the foreign job market. He finally confirmed Iuad's commitment to continue promoting new international training projects, not only within the Erasmus circuit, but also through agreements with non-European institutions especially in Asia, North and South America, to multiply work and training opportunities in addition to the skills of the individual student.
