Increased Security Measures Ahead of Easter Holidays

On the eve of the Easter holidays, when an increase in the movement of residents and the arrival of numerous visitors will be recorded, the Carabinieri of the Cerreto Sannita Company are ready to intensify controls. The priority is to prevent burglaries, scams targeting the elderly, drug trafficking and use, and road accidents. Just yesterday, in the 21 municipalities under their jurisdiction, bordering the provinces of Caserta and Campobasso, 18 patrols were deployed, checking a total of 134 vehicles and 167 individuals, including many already known to law enforcement. The military, in addition to patrolling the most isolated and vulnerable areas with a view to thefts, often inhabited by the elderly, also carried out several personal and vehicle searches looking for burglary tools used to open windows and doors, weapons, and drugs. In San Salvatore Telesino, for one man and two women, who also have numerous precedents, a mandatory expulsion order was issued because, after checks near a crowded commercial establishment, they were not able to provide a suitable justification for their presence on the spot. The man was also reported for repeated driving without ever having obtained a license, with the consequent seizure of the vehicle. For the same violation, in Pontelandolfo, a local man was reported. The car was seized and entrusted to the owner, who was also fined for 'careless entrustment'. Finally, in Telese Terme, a young man from the Telesina valley was reported for personal use of drugs, as he was found in possession of marijuana. Moreover, in the same spa town, a motorist was fined for lack of insurance coverage with the consequent seizure of the vehicle. And again in Castelvenere and Cerreto Sannita, two motorists were fined for using a cell phone while driving and driving without seat belts. A total of 20 fines were issued, amounting to over 4,000 euros. Therefore, the Carabinieri's preventive activity continues, but, as the same military remind, the collaboration of citizens in promptly reporting suspicious situations to 112 is fundamental.
