The DS Glass, a company from Campania with its operational headquarters in Arzano, deals with the distribution of glass containers in all aspects, backed by a solid history of three generations but with the innovative vision provided by three brothers, Nicola, Leopoldo, and Roberto Gimmelli, who in 2013, starting from the historic company founded by their grandfather, gave life to DS Glass. The ability to innovate has pushed the Gimmelli brothers to also explore new paths, increasingly expanding their presence in the growing market of glass containers for distillates. A market that relies on different needs compared to that of the classic standard bottles, as explained by one of the three Gimmelli brothers, Leopoldo: "The market for glass containers for spirits and distillates has seen significant growth since the 1980s," explains Leopoldo Gimmelli, "especially with the boom in the production of limoncello, which has given a strong boost to the distillery market. In recent years, producers have expanded their range, mostly based on typical liqueurs, to citrus, bitters, and fruit liqueurs, specializing in the production of Grappa, Rum, and lately Gin. This is, especially in Campania, a market made up of many small and very small producers, plus a very limited number of larger companies, structured for more significant productions. What characterizes this type of market is obviously the demand for quality products, so in this case, the bottles requested are much more particular and aesthetically sought after." It is clear, therefore, that this type of clientele requires a customization of the containers, starting from the shape of the bottles, to the color and all the accessories that make a bottle a true design object. In this, DS Glass takes full advantage of the very close collaboration with partner companies such as Vetreria Etrusca and Vetri Speciali, both glassworks are specialized in the production of high-end bottles and jars and innovative designs, special colors, and containers of various shapes and sizes like the Magnum from 3 to 30 liters. But the customization of a bottle for distillates, as mentioned, is also completed with accessories, and in this, another partner, the Tapì Group, one of the most important companies in the world for distillate closures, capable of creating closures of high aesthetic value, with ergonomic and innovative design, able to turn a simple closure into a jewel of rare beauty, helps DS Glass to provide its customers with a unique product. Tourism gives a further boost to this type of market, since many of these small and very small companies producing limoncello and other typical liqueurs have added to their main activity a sort of hospitality business, ranging from restaurants to B&Bs and all this drives the entire sector. In short, the sector of glass containers for distillates represents a market in some ways still to be explored. DS Glass has the know-how and the ability to innovate right to play an increasingly leading role even in this fascinating portion of the market.
