The Italian film journalists have announced the assignment of the Silver Ribbons.
At the award ceremony on Monday, February 26 in Rome at 6:00 pm at the Barberini cinema, the "ribbon of the year" will also be handed over to Mario Martone, for "somewhere someone loves me" and "a moving portrait". Tribute to Mimmo Jodice and to the writer and screenwriter Edith Bruck, a survivor of deportation, for Edith, a moving autobiographical testimony on the Shoah, from an idea by Giovanna Boursier, directed by Michele Mally.
Among the finalists of the Silver Ribbons for the "cinema of the real", two female directors, the first work of Kasia Smutniak Mur and the intimacy of the fragments of a love journey of the autobiographical and not only sentimental journey of Chloè Barreau, a quintet to which two special awards are added: in Rome, holy and damned, the journey into the Roman nights of Roberto D'Agostino, Marco Giusti and Daniele Ciprì and to "another tomorrow" by Silvio Soldini and Cristiana Mainardi, on the origins of violence against women also investigated through the voices of men.
The 10 finalists announced today, to which the special quintet dedicated to art documentaries is added, were chosen among the 55 competitors this year in the two categories dedicated to the narrative of the real and to films on cinema, Show, Culture. They were selected from over 130 documentaries proposed in 2023 by the most important festivals or in specialized reviews and then proposed in theaters or also presented on networks or television platforms. In selection a panorama of themes, stories and characters that does not forget the current events, but also the recent history with a particular look in the cinema of the real at the current events of a dramatic year between migrations, wars, femicides, alarm for climate changes and, in the world of entertainment and culture, a special attention, with cinema, to the protagonists of music.
The official selection 2024 is signed by the national directorate of Italian film journalists (sngci): Laura Delli Colli (president), Fulvia Caprara (vice president), Oscar Cosulich, Maurizio di Rienzo, Susanna Rotunno, Paolo Sommaruga and Stefania Ulivi.
