It's a "black" driven trio, that will be climbing on the stage of Civico 103 in Aversa this Saturday at 9 pm. Leading the formation will be Knick Smith, one of the most talented jazz pianists on the international scene, who has shared the stage for ten years with the great bassist Stanley Clarke and has been on tour, among many, with Stevie Wonder, Queen Latifah, Kenny Garrett, George Duke and Dianne Reeves. Moreover, Smith has worked on the music for the TV series "Soul Food" and several film projects.
Supporting his exploits on the black and white keys, Dennis Chambers, one of the most powerful drummers in the world, capable like no one else of blending power and technique (among his many collaborations, those with the brothers Michael and Randy Brecker, George Duke, Scott Henderson, Greg Howe, John McLaughlin, John Scofield and Mike Stern are particularly noteworthy), and bassist Edwin Livingston (Elvin Jones, Yellowjackets, Russell Ferrante, Dave Weckl, Peter Erskine, Horacio Hernandez, Joe LaBarbera, Queen Latifah, Jovanotti, Melody Gardot, Natalie Cole).
During the concert, organized by Antonio Iazzetta in collaboration with the Live Tones Napoli Party ETS of Alberto Bruno and Ornella Falco, the trio will propose songs from the pianist's latest album, "Romance" and some jazz and fusion standards.
"I decided to become a jazz pianist because jazz is a spiritual, versatile and challenging art form", says Smith.
