Khvicha Kvaratskhelia: Finding Home in Naples and the Unforgettable Scudetto

"I miss my home every day, but now I feel that my home is in Italy and especially in this city," says Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, star of Napoli, in an interview with the Lega Serie A microphones. "Football is everything to me, it's my life, no doubt. I used to play with my friends in the street every time I left the house, even after training I was there playing with them. I took my first steps in street football, that's where I grew up. When you play for the team where Maradona played, it's a pleasure. Before coming here my father always told me that Maradona was the best ever, he was his idol." Napoli is for the whole family: "When my family comes here to visit me, I always take them to the stadium, they always try to go out to eat pizza, pasta, and everything delicious they have here. They love Italian food, one of the best in the world. The only thing I would exchange pizza and pasta for is khachapuri, a typical Georgian dish," continued Kvaratskhelia. "I think Neapolitans and Georgians are quite similar because when we do something we always aim for the best result." An unforgettable scudetto: "The fans motivate me because when you see their passion and their desire to win, you want to win for them, sometimes you need it. They give you an energy you can't find anywhere else. After the victory at Juventus' home, we knew we were one step away from becoming champions of Italy," continued Kvara. "It was the best day of my life. When you win the title once, you want to win it again, you try to repeat the success and give your best to succeed. But in life, nothing is easy. Being part of this city is a wonderful experience. If I had to leave, I'm sure I would miss many things."
