Local Police and Environmental Crimes in Naples: Seizures and Investigations

The Local Police of Naples from the Scampia Operational Unit intervened together with the Police Station and the personnel of A.C.E.R., on via G. Marrazzo, on an arcade area owned by ACER-Campania where two structures had been erected, with two independent passageways. One of the rooms was equipped with electrical and plumbing systems and was floored; inside, it was divided into a mini-room that served as a bathroom. Moreover, in the room, there were two cages with birds. The personnel immediately alerted the veterinary service of the A.S.L., which took care of the recovery of the animals. The constructed structures were seized pending determinations from the Judicial Authority. Concurrently, the Local Police of Naples was also engaged on the environmental crime front. The agents of the Environmental Department, in concert with the personnel of the Italian Army and ABC Naples, conducted an operation in compliance with the Terra dei Fuochi Pact in the San Giovanni district. Specifically, on via Traversa dell'Abbeveratoio, they inspected a transport company that operated both on its own account and on behalf of third parties for chemical and flammable products. During the inspections, it was found that the company was carrying out activities despite the revocation of the necessary authorization to operate dating back to 2020. Moreover, the car wash plant did not have a suitable system for the purification of industrial wastewater, leading to the direct discharge of the wash waters into the public sewer system. The activity was placed under judicial seizure, and the company's CEO was reported to the Judicial Authority for criminal offenses in violation of the Environmental Code.
