The Carabinieri of Giugliano in Campania and Caivano have arrested 11 people in the Neapolitan area and notified a ban on residence to two others, all believed to be involved in various ways in mafia-type association, association aimed at illicit trafficking of drugs, extortions and attempted extortions, possession and carrying of weapons, possession for the purpose of drug dealing, crimes aggravated by the mafia method.
Thanks also to the declarations of justice collaborators, among whom is Pasquale Cristiano, former leader of a criminal group, the feud between the criminal family led by Giuseppe Monfregolo and the criminal group that Cristiano managed together with Vincenzo Mormile was reconstructed. This feud was sparked by the murder of Salvatore Petrillo, Cristiano's nephew, victim of an ambush on November 24, 2021, in front of the Roxy Bar in Arzano, and died in hospital in Giugliano four days later, on November 20, 2021.
In the acts, an extortion of 20,000 euros is also documented on a contract worth almost 2,849,218 euros to create an artistic urban park in the Cardarelli hospital in Naples. On the deal, according to what has emerged, the interests of various Camorra organizations converge: the Caiazzo-Cimmino clan of Vomero and the Sautto-Ciccarelli clan, of Caivano. There are also interactions between the various representatives of the criminal families, including that of the Moccia, and an employee of a well-known service company that also operates in the largest hospital in the South. The first tranche, 10,000 euros, would have been divided 50% between the Caiazzo-Cimmino clan and eight other people: it was paid by the company during a meeting held on September 21, 2017, in the house of one of the suspects, where the representatives of the company that had won the contract were summoned, subjected to serious threats.
Furthermore, from the investigations, the modus operandi of the defendants emerges, which punished certain characters for opposing the system: the intimidating acts against the commander of the local police of Arzano, Biagio Chiariello (who was made to find a funeral poster with his name made at the entrance of the command) and don Maurizio Patriciello, parish priest of Parco Verde di Caivano who, for intimidation purposes, had a bomb exploded in front of the gate of the Church of St. Paul the Apostle the night between March 12 and 13, 2022. Intimidations dictated by the will on the part of the underworld in the North of Naples to neutralize those who represented an enemy for the Camorra.
