A new hard blow to the clans of Caivano. Under the delegation of the district prosecutor of Naples, the Carabinieri of the investigative unit of the Castello di Cisterna group have executed 14 arrests on charges of mafia-type association, extortion, and attempted extortion.
In particular, from the investigative activities, the enduring operation of the Angelino clan, dominant in the field of extortionate demands to the detriment of entrepreneurs and traders between Caivano and the neighboring municipalities, would have emerged.
Also among the 14 arrested suspects is a municipal police officer from the Municipality of San Cipriano (Caserta), against whom the Carabinieri and the DDA contest external complicity in a mafia association. With the investigations, covering the period between May and November 2023, the military have found a real roundup of the economic realities of the territory (Caivano and neighboring areas) to be subjected to extortion: in fact, there are as many as 36 extortion episodes, both consummated or attempted by the Angelino clan, documented.
Some of the recipients of the precautionary measures are also deemed responsible for having facilitated the hiding of the group's leader Antonio Angelino, identified and arrested on July 9, 2023.
