Major Drug Seizure in Ischia Leads to Arrest

A significant drug seizure in Ischia was carried out by the State Police officers, who arrested a man who was transporting over 2.6 kilograms of drugs. The officers, engaged in a control operation as part of the fight against the spread of drugs on the island, noticed a 70-year-old man already known to law enforcement, driving a van that had just disembarked at the port of Casamicciola from a ship that had just arrived from Pozzuoli. The police followed him and stopped him after a few kilometers, in a parking area in the municipality of Ischia; by searching the vehicle, they found the drugs, two kilograms of hashish and more than 600 grams of marijuana divided into wraps and loaves. For the 70-year-old, handcuffs were immediately snapped on (with the charge of illegal possession of drugs) and the officers were also able to trace the customer waiting for the load, an islander for whom a complaint was filed.
