Man Arrested in Naples for Gender Violence and Harassment

On Wednesday, January 31, the military of the Carabinieri Station of Naples-Borgoloreto, by delegation of the Public Prosecutor, executed a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the Court of Naples dealing with procedures related to 'gender violence and protection of the weak sections of the population' against a 41-year-old man already burdened with numerous criminal and police precedents, considered seriously suspected of the crimes of persecutory acts and attempted extortion against a 31-year-old girl. The suspect, with conduct repeated over time, threatened and harassed an acquaintance, repeatedly passing or stopping near the victim's workplace, following her in every move, threatening her with death as well as trying to extort a large sum of money with threat and violence, causing the young woman a lasting state of anxiety and fear and instilling in her a well-founded fear for her safety. The investigations stemmed from the complaint filed by the victim at the Borgoloreto Carabinieri Station, who reported the threats and harassment she repeatedly suffered from a subject to whom she had firmly refused the proposal to start a relationship with him. The victim's statements, also corroborated by informed people, allowed to outline a serious evidentiary framework against the man currently detained for serious social alarm crimes.
