Maritime Transport Disruptions in the Gulf of Naples Due to Adverse Weather Conditions

The worsening of the weather conditions has caused consequences on the regularity of maritime transport for the islands in the Gulf of Naples where, for a few hours, all trips to Ischia and Procida operated by fast vessels have been suspended. The strong Sirocco wind, which blew at over 20 knots, caused the stop of the hydrofoil connections departing from Naples and Pozzuoli for the island ports of Forio, Casamicciola, Ischia Porto, and Marina Grande; however, up to this moment, the ferry trips are regular although operated in several cases late on schedule. The expected persistence of unfavorable weather conditions may determine further cancellations of connections scheduled for the afternoon and evening.
