Over a ton of contraband cigarettes, all packets with the same qr-code: an arrest in the province of Caserta. The military of the provincial command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples have seized 1.2 tonnes of smuggled and counterfeit foreign manufactured tobaccos, arresting a man in flagrante delicto for the crimes of counterfeiting and receiving stolen goods. The raid by the yellow flames of the Frattamaggiore group took place in Villa Literno, during the economic control of the territory.
The finance officers decided to carry out a check on a suspicious van which allowed them to seize the large quantity of contraband cigarettes. In addition to the illegal cargo, a Ford Transit with Italian license plate was seized. Immediate checks made it possible to verify that the cigarette packs all bore the same unique code (qr-code), which should actually correspond only to a single pack. If released into the illegal market, the 1.2 tonnes of cigarettes altogether seized would have allowed to realize an illicit profit of over 200,000 euros.
The investigations continue under the direction of the North Naples Prosecutor's Office. The phenomenon of smuggling of foreign manufactured tobaccos is growing. Since the beginning of the year, during various interventions, the financiers of the Provincial Command of Naples have seized more than 2.5 tonnes, reporting 123 people. Various areas of the city and province were involved: from the city districts of Secondigliano and San Pietro a Patierno to the hinterland municipalities such as Marano di Napoli, Villaricca, and Saviano.
