The writer Maurizio de Giovanni resigns from the presidency of the Scientific Committee for the protection and enhancement of the Neapolitan linguistic heritage.
The reason? It was speculated that the recent controversy over the Neapolitan language concerning the Sanremo text (not exactly orthodox) of the rapper Geolier's song, but it is the same writer who clarifies on social media. "If they were to be the boos of a country still divided in two, as many claim, it would be a national humiliation," the author wrote on Facebook following the victory in the cover night at the Sanremo festival, contested by the Ariston audience.
"However, I believe that they are more simply and sadly the boos of the old in the face of the victory of the young, for a taste that is changing and for the happy invasion of a territory that was, madly, considered exclusive property. In any case, victories are respected. And we, here, are very happy for one of our boys, who wins in his own way," emphasized de Giovanni. He then specified his personal preferences: "As a father, I felt like dying of tenderness for Angelina Mango and for Roberto Vecchioni and Alfa; but that's my problem."
