Municipal Council Approves School Renovation for Seismic and Accessibility Upgrades

The municipal council, chaired by Mayor Clemente Mastella, upon the proposal of the public works commissioner Maria Pasquariello, proceeded this morning to approve the amendment concerning the seismic adaptation and hygienic functional works, as well as the removal of architectural barriers of the Cretarossa school. During the execution of the works, circumstances occurred that required changes due to unforeseen and unpredictable causes at the time of the contract's signing. Specifically, there was a need to proceed with the waterproofing of the roof, the creation of a ventilated crawl space and a perimeter drainage, as well as a seismic adaptation of the structure. Moreover, at the request of the school management, it became necessary to create a disengagement for classrooms 4 and 5 and the closing of the existing connecting spaces of the classrooms with consequent modification of the systems and flooring. Finally, an adaptation of the sanitary facilities and ancillary rooms had to be planned. 'The delay in completing the works,' explains commissioner Pasquariello, 'was due to the emergence of technical problems not foreseeable at the time of the project's design, but that came out during the execution phase. Therefore, it was necessary to proceed with a project variation which, as per the schedule, foresees the completion of the works by the end of April, when a safe and functional school will be returned to the community.'
