Municipal Police Seize Car Wash Area for Public Space Violation

After several complaints, the Municipal Police, San Lorenzo Operational Unit, intervened in the Arenaccia area where they carried out the criminal seizure of an area used for a car wash service. Although the owner was authorized to carry out the activity inside his premises, it was found - the Municipal Police reports - that the washing operations mainly took place on the public road, obstructing the normal flow of traffic. Repeated violations were found that had already been sanctioned with administrative reports in the past. During the inspection, it was discovered that the washing activity was carried out directly on the street, using various equipment and occupying public space with vehicles waiting for washing or to be picked up by customers. Furthermore, the owner had carried out unauthorized works, including the creation of an access ramp and the unauthorized connection to external water systems. Following the lack of proper documentation and repeated violations, the external area of the activity was criminally seized. The owner was fined for various infractions, including the illegal occupation of public land and the unauthorized use of water resources. Proceedings have also been initiated for the recovery of sums owed, with a total amount of fines of about 9,000 euros and further procedures for a recovery of a single proprietary fee estimated at about 105,000 euros. In order to restore road safety, the intervention of the cleaning service was requested to remove foam and oily residues from the road surface. In addition, a joint site visit with the Technical Service of the Municipality and ABC personnel was scheduled to verify the legality of the connections and the removal of illegal structures.
