The region is expected to welcome 266,000 tourists, generating a total revenue of 92 million euros. The occupancy rate of the 12,000 accommodation facilities (2,200 hotels, 10,000 non-hotel accommodations) is 89%, a figure that is also growing with last-minute bookings. About 48 million euros is the revenue from overnight stays, which rises to 92 million euros through related industries.
It is estimated that the 266,000 tourists expected in our region will spend approximately 44 million euros in bars, restaurants, services, commerce, clothing and footwear stores, private transport, guides, etc. "Naples and Campania continue to be protagonists of tourism at Easter 2024. It confirms - comments Vincenzo Schiavo, president of Confesercenti Campania and national vice-president with responsibility for the South - a great desire to experience our beauties, to visit our territory, to enjoy our scenic wonders and to take advantage of the Campanian gastronomy which remains a major attraction. But above all, Campania is interested in the beauty given by our millennial history. Our region once again positions itself among the top regions in Italy for the filling of hotel and non-hotel facilities," he explained.
"Naples bursts with tourists. Tourism here has reached even the suburbs. In fact, we are recording sky-high occupancy rates even in accommodation facilities located as far as 15 kilometers from the city center. It is important to emphasize - Schiavo continues - how Campania will also record an important occupancy rate, of 89%, of the 12,000 accommodation facilities. The tourist boom also brings a considerable indirect economic impact, from which, therefore, widespread commercial activities will benefit,"
The data for Naples for three nights and four days are indeed significant: about 174,000 tourists expected, with a turnover estimated by the Confesercenti Campania study center of 62.9 million euros. For Easter 2024, the average occupancy rate of the accommodation facilities (about 8,500, including 1,250 hotels and approximately 7,300 non-hotel accommodations) is 93%. The average spending on overnight stays is 60 euros per night per person, for a total estimated revenue of 31.4 million euros. This is in addition to the indirect spending, i.e., the spending guaranteed by the tourist (on average 60 euros per capita) which amounts to another 31.4 million euros.
"Naples - explains Vincenzo Schiavo - always plays a leading role in tourism and remains one of the preferred destinations in Italy, since it is at the top of the national ranking of tourist presences during the Easter holidays. The other provinces of Campania, Salerno, Caserta, Avellino, and Benevento have now become major tourist hubs: we must ensure that tourists in Naples also visit the other cities of our region and vice versa," he said. The latest tourist boom should not, however, be passively accepted. According to President Schiavo, there is still much to do to be able to welcome and manage tourist flows of these proportions correctly.
