Naples Man Arrested After Hospital Dash Leads to Assault on Police Officers

He was speeding through the streets to take his wife to the hospital, even running a red light. The police, noticing the situation, escorted him to the emergency room. Once there, the 46-year-old man from Naples not only refused to provide his personal details, but also started to threaten and insult the police officers, eventually assaulting them. The man, already known to law enforcement, was arrested and will face charges of threats, assault, resisting a public official, contempt of a public official, and refusal to provide personal identification. In the afternoon of yesterday, officers from the General Prevention and Public Assistance Office, while patrolling the territory, noticed a car with two people on board that had just crossed an intersection with a red light. Therefore, the police reached and stopped the vehicle, whose driver justified his reckless driving by the need to take his wife to the hospital, and for this reason, they escorted the car to the Emergency Room of the Old Pellegrini Hospital. In those moments, the driver began to utter insulting and threatening words towards them, refusing to provide his personal details until, after a scuffle, he was restrained. The suspect, a 46-year-old Neapolitan with a police record, was arrested and fined for 6 traffic violations.
