Naples Metropolitan City Launches School Renovation with PNRR Funds

The Metropolitan City of Naples has initiated the adaptation and extraordinary maintenance works of the De Nicola school in Naples with a total commitment of 5 million euros of PNRR funds. In fact, the works have started at the complex in via E. A. Mario, which will particularly involve securing the dangerous parts of the facade with the reconstruction of the undercoat plaster, the creation of an external thermal coat, the creation of housing for the external fixtures and their disassembly, the installation of new thermal break fixtures and a thermo-insulating glass window. Moreover, on the building, the existing waterproofing with the related screeds will be removed and thermal insulation in the roofing with the addition of a vapor barrier will be arranged, new screeds and new waterproofing will be made. Finally, the entity led by the Metropolitan Mayor, Gaetano Manfredi, has planned the replacement of slate spandrels and sills, with the restoration of deteriorated concrete and then proceeding with the external finishing and painting of the external facades, as well as the painting of iron works. Equally important are the seismic improvement interventions to increase the safety coefficients of the building. Currently, the I.S. De Nicola is one of the reference institutes of the V municipality of Naples Vomero-Arenella with the traditional Scientific High School and that of Applied Sciences, as well as the high school of Human Sciences also with an economic-social option. The I.S. De Nicola as a technical economic institute has the Administration, Finance and Marketing direction and, over the years, has expanded its educational offer by activating two additional articulations that allow diversifying the choice of students, at the beginning of the second two-year period, with the profile International Relations for Marketing and Business Information Systems. Starting from the 2022/2023 school year, the first class of the Technological Technical Institute Graphics and communication was activated, which pursues the goal of designing, creating and managing graphic and multimedia communication through the use of different supports. Marianna Salierno, metropolitan councilor delegated to Planning and School Building, expresses satisfaction: "We are entering the heart of the implementation phase of the PNRR on many institutes of the city of Naples and its metropolitan area. Thanks to these funds, in the coming years, we will be able to modernize and make our school structures safer."
