Naples Police Crack Down on Unauthorized Restaurant Extensions Near University

The officers of the San Lorenzo operational unit of the municipal police conducted a control operation of public establishments along Corso Umberto I, near the headquarters of the Federico II University. During the checks, some serious irregularities were detected. The managers of two activities had installed fixed structures of 40 square meters each in the space in front of their premises, precisely in via Tari and via Marotta. These structures, anchored to the ground and closed on all four sides, increased the reception capacity of the activity. They were made of aluminum beams, surrounded by glass windows, and equipped with sliding doors or integrated directly with the entrance of the activity. Inside, they were set up with tables, chairs, electrical system for lighting, air conditioning, and televisions. Since the managers did not possess the necessary authorization permits, the structures were criminally seized and the owners referred to the judicial authority. Furthermore, the owner of the activity in via Tari was administratively sanctioned for the abusive occupation of an additional 50 square meters of area with tables and chairs, without authorization, with an immediate eviction order. The competent offices of the Municipality of Naples will be notified for the activities caught occupying public land abusively for the recovery of the single patrimonial fee for a total of €70,000.
