On Thursday, March 21, the third day of the Naples Queer Festival will take place, an event organized by Enzo Moscato Company and Casa del Contemporaneo, with artistic direction by Giuseppe Affinito. Four appointments are scheduled. At 11 am at the Center for Neapolitan, Southern, and European Theatre Studies, the workshop Playlist – Chamber Music continues, curated by Domenico Ingenito. At 5:30 pm in Sala Assoli, a meeting with Massimo Andrei, director of the film «Mater Natura»; followed by the screening of the feature film, starring Maria Pia Calzone, Valerio Foglia Manzillo, Enzo Moscato, Vladimir Luxuria, Luca Ward and many others.
At 9 pm, Ilenia Caleo will star in Lesbos, a performative work, which benefits from the sound creation of Martina Ruggeri (aka Bunny Dakota), that gives the microphone the cartography of past trans/feminist posters. The evening concludes with the spectacular dj-set Cocomero, with Silvia Calderoni, where body and music merge into a single explosion of energy in a mash-up of electronic, electropunk, 80s, new wave, and trash. «No sexist, macho, homophobic, transphobic, or racist attitudes will be accepted on the dance floor. Cocomero is an infestation,» states the performer. The cost of tickets for the shows is 10 euros for full price and 8 euros for reduced price. The cost of films is 5 euros. The plot of «Mater Natura»
The protagonist of Mater Natura is Desiderio, a young transsexual who prostitutes himself to live. After meeting Andrea, the manager of a car wash, he falls in love with him and embarks on an intense and passionate story. However, Desiderio is unaware that Andrea has a girlfriend and is about to marry her. Pushed to the edge by the cruelty of life and deprived of the affection of his parents, who fail to accept his difference, Desiderio finds refuge in a group of eccentric characters who gravitate around him. They are the only people he feels a bit friendly with. In spring, Desiderio and his friends decide to change their lives and move to the countryside, to open a center for organic farming that also serves as a kind of psychological counseling center for men in crisis.
Ilenia Caleo, activist in the commons and queer-feminist movements, has grown politically and artistically in the social center scene. In the description of her work Lesbos she writes: «The flying lesbians have returned: a poetic manifesto, the idea of a «us» that is transcorporeal, tactile, sensitive. How to say us? We imagine “us" but in a future time/space. No boundary between our bodies. «Being moist is our job, and we do it very well».
During the evenings of the Festival, it will be possible to visit for free the photographic exhibition by Fabio Schiattarella, Out of The Cage_Beyond the Queerness and the artistic installation by Dario Biancullo, Agrifuturismo TransVesuvian Counseling. Schiattarella's photographs are for sale and a portion of the proceeds collected will be used to activate forms of individual support to meet the needs of LGBTQ+ people.
