Naples Shows Solidarity for Casamicciola with a Charity Dinner to Rebuild School Gym

A second evening of solidarity from Naples towards Casamicciola, the municipality on the island of Ischia that is rebuilding after the landslide that occurred between November 25 and 26, 2022, which brought destruction to the area of the island from Mount Epomeo. In Naples, a dinner organized by Valentina De Nunzio and Ester Chianelli with the association 'The Charity Night' indeed raised 24,000 euros that will be given to the Municipality of Casamicciola, which will thus be able to build a gym in the De Gasperi public school, giving those growing up on the island a new space for sports activities in the mornings and afternoons throughout the year. 'This year we have returned to the field,' explains Valentina De Nunzio, 'to help with the renovation of the gym at the De Gasperi school. To do this, we organized this charity event at the Teatro Posillipo where many Neapolitans who love Casamicciola participated and wanted to contribute to help the children of the island. I asked Naples to help me realize this project as already happened last year. Ours is therefore a continuous event to not forget what happened and without thinking that after a landslide things then resolve completely in a year, but it requires a work of proximity that lasts over time.' Entrepreneurs, university professors, professionals joined the dinner giving their strong contribution, as Ester Chianelli explains: 'we try to embrace a project conceived this year because the children of Casamicciola can look at their future with optimism. We work this year but are already thinking about the next project for next year, we remain open to those who want to make proposals on the new project. We will already work on it next month, me and Valentina, thinking about what to do for the young people and the future of the island of Ischia, knowing that Naples has a big heart and is ready to make important gestures.' At the dinner at the Teatro Posillipo, Giosi Ferrandino, mayor of Casamicciola, also participated, emphasizing the 'very close relationship between Ischia and Naples that has always existed. We know how much the island is loved by Neapolitans and this is demonstrated by taking steps for the island, to improve the social, cultural level and tourism, because Neapolitans are also a challenge for us to improve. Now the heart from Naples also comes out with great solidarity on Casamicciola. It is already the second year of these evenings that prove to be very close morally and in concrete help: last year there was help to the food chain in first aid, with substantial contributions for those who had lost everything. Now in the reconstruction, work is also being done on the schools where children cannot yet carry out physical activity. From tonight, the possibility is given to the boys in the near future to do physical activity, it will be a nice signal for all the Ischitans and Casamicciolesi, and I bring here their thanks.
