Naples Standoff: Man Arrested After Violent Confrontation with Police

On Wednesday afternoon, officers from the Posillipo Police Station and the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office, during their territorial control service, following a note received at the local Operations Room, intervened at the residence of an individual for the report of a dispute. Upon arrival, the officers found the apartment door closed and, after multiple requests, with the support of the Fire Brigade and policemen from the San Ferdinando Police Station, attempted to enter the dwelling through a hole made in the door, but the man, wielding two axes, tried to obstruct the entrance by throwing liquid at them and igniting it with a lighter, which was promptly extinguished. In those moments, the suspect continued his aggressive behavior by aiming a screwdriver at the officers and also throwing stones and acidic substances until he was, not without difficulty, restrained. For these reasons, a 42-year-old man from Naples was arrested for resisting a public official, aggravated assault, and attempted arson.
