Naples' Struggling Food Income Project for Needy Families

Naples, the "food income" project to donate food to needy families in the area does not take off. The City of Naples, after having presented the public notice for participation in the project, is looking for donors and third sector entities willing to participate in the distribution of food, has been forced to reopen the terms "due to the low participation in the notices". Initially, the deadline was set for March 18, then it was extended by the Municipality for the first time, and finally, at the request of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, which also received extension requests from other municipalities in Italy, a second time, until the next April 4. The notice, explains the note from Palazzo San Giacomo, is aimed at "food sector operators, public and private establishments, for the donation of food surpluses as part of the experimentation of the 'Food Income' aimed at reducing food waste", and also to "Third Sector Entities for the identification of subjects with whom to sign an agreement for the realization of the project".
