Naples Wildlife Welfare Operation Uncovers Animal Mistreatment

The military personnel of the Naples Forestry Carabinieri group, Cites CC unit, together with the veterinary managers of the Asl Naples 1 center, went to Naples, to a commercial activity owned by a local 56-year-old, for a check aimed at the correct application of the Washington Convention regulations and the verification of animal welfare. The inspection revealed issues related to the detention and welfare of the animals. The space hosting the birds was found to be small, considering the number of specimens housed, poorly ventilated and lit, and with dirty cages. Three parrots, including a grey parrot, a blue-headed parrot, and a black-headed caique, were not in good health conditions. The military proceeded to seize a total of 154 birds, as they were kept in conditions incompatible with their nature and causing severe suffering. The man was reported.
