Hundreds of construction and metal workers took part today in the sit-in promoted in Naples by Cgil and Uil in front of the Prefecture headquarters, in Plebiscito square, on the occasion of the national strike of the two categories declared after the workplace massacre that took place in Florence last Friday.
The strike concerns the last two hours of each shift. Many young people and retirees also attended the sit-in.
Many construction workers wore protective helmets. Throughout the region, meetings were held in workplaces and leaflets were distributed.
"It is necessary to establish a special prosecutor's office on work-related deaths and recognize manslaughter when accidents occur at work and life is lost. Moreover, it would be forward-thinking to use a third of the surplus of Inail insurance premiums for workplace safety and increase the number of inspectors, they are still too few. And then, the proliferation of contracts and subcontracts that disperse responsibility and responsible parties is no longer acceptable".
