Nearly 8 Kilograms of Contraband Cigarettes Seized in Salerno

The finance guard of the provincial command of Salerno has seized nearly 8 kilograms of contraband cigarettes, held for sale purposes by a subject of African nationality. The activity was initiated by the financiers of the Nocera Inferiore Company following a routine road check in Angri, of a vehicle driven by the man, who had numerous previous police records for smuggling of foreign processed tobaccos. Therefore, the military decided to also carry out a check at the foreigner's residence, in the municipality of Scafati, where 380 packets of cigarettes of various well-known brands, such as Marlboro, Winston, Chesterfield, Merit, Philip Morris, ready to be illegally sold, were found. The packets were seized and the responsible party was reported to the Customs and Monopoly Agency for the imposition of the consequent administrative sanctions. 'The activity of the finance guard in the fight against the smuggling of foreign processed tobaccos - the Yellow Flames emphasize - is aimed not only at dismantling transnational criminal organizations but also at preventing the consumption of so-called "cheap white" or "illicit white" cigarettes, which cannot be sold in Italy or within the European Union as they are harmful to the health of consumers.
