Nevile Reid's Musical Salon: A Tribute to Wilhelm Kempff and Vittoria Colonna

The second and final event of March in the "Nevile Reid's Musical Salon", a series organized by the Ravello Foundation and dedicated to the young and not only the most qualified ranks of today's concert performers predominantly formed in the Conservatories of Music of the Campania Region, on Sunday, March 24th (11:30 AM) at the Auditorium of Villa Rufolo will feature the brothers Giuseppe and Giovanni Auletta who will continue the journey in tribute to the compositional art of one of the most significant pianists of the '900, Wilhelm Kempff. This appointment will be, as Giovanni Auletta himself describes, a "Narrative Concert" for voice and piano that will retrace the human and artistic story of Vittoria Colonna, a great poetess of the Italian Renaissance. Auletta's narrative will combine life anecdotes with some of the author's famous Sonnets. The story takes place in the Aragonese Castle of Ischia, where Vittoria lived some happy years with her husband Ferrante D'Avalos. The music, which will illuminate this path, will obviously be that of Wilhelm Kempff. "Kempff has left us remarkable pages, which only recently have received adequate attention, through recordings and publications. – explains Auletta – Remarkable some piano compositions dedicated to the Island of Ischia and, particularly profound, a "Lament" by Vittoria Colonna in its first performance for the occasion, together with the Rapsodisches Präludium of which the manuscript and recording for the DaVinci Publishing label have been taken care of."
