At the Gallerie d’Italia in Naples, a museum of Intesa Sanpaolo, the new cycle of events 'Five Women for the History of Naples' opens tomorrow, January 30 at 5:00 PM, after the great success of the first edition. The event is dedicated to women who have earned a leading role in the century in which they lived and operated. The ongoing exhibition 'Naples at the Time of Napoleon. Rebell and the Light of the Gulf' is dedicated to two female figures of the Napoleonic era, Carolina Murat, a central personality of the exhibition, and Eleonora Pimentel Fonseca.
The first meeting scheduled for tomorrow is dedicated to Luisa Conte, one of the greatest protagonists of the Neapolitan theatre, thirty years after her death and a hundred years after her birth.
Francesco Cotticelli from the University of Naples 'Federico II', the writer Gioconda Marinelli, her biographer and niece Lara Sansone, actress and director, will talk about it.
The initiative, now in its second edition, aims to make a wider audience aware of the research program developed over the last thirty years that has improved knowledge about women in the modern and contemporary age as well as about the leading role that many of them had in the field of arts patronage, political and cultural life of the city of Naples.
