Nighttime Police Crackdown in Naples Historic Center

The historic center of Naples in the lens of the Carabinieri's controls who patrolled the streets and nightlife venues. During the night, the soldiers of the Naples central company reported a 27-year-old Neapolitan found in possession of a rather unusual weapon given the circumstances, a small pair of shears, which was seized. A seventeen-year-old from Afragola, on the other hand, had a switchblade seized that the minor was carrying with him: he justified himself to the Carabinieri saying that he needed the weapon for personal defense. During the checks, nine youngsters were also reported to the Prefecture found in possession of small amounts of drugs including cocaine, hashish, and marijuana. The owner of a pizzeria on Via Concordia was reported: the Carabinieri, together with the ASL, found five undeclared workers in the venue, one of whom was irregular in the national territory. Administrative violations were contested for an amount of 25,000 euros and 40 kilograms of untraceable food were seized. Blanket checks were also carried out regarding compliance with the road code: at dawn, there were 53 fines, of which 28 for not using protective helmets and 6 for circulating in the pedestrian area of Piazza Dante. The Carabinieri seized 17 scooters.
