Nurses at San Giuseppe Moscati Hospital in Avellino Win Over €300,000 in Compensation

Sixty-eight nurses working at the San Giuseppe Moscati Hospital in Avellino will receive over 300 thousand euros in compensation: over the last nine years, starting from 2015, the Hospital did not consider the time dedicated to dressing and handing over shifts to the next team as included in the working hours. This was established by a ruling of the Court of Avellino, to which the professional nurses' union Nursind had turned. Each nurse will receive a sum of about 4,500 euros. "A battle for civilization has been won," comments Romina Iannuzzi, territorial secretary of the union, "for the recognition of a long-trampled right." "The unpleasant aspect," adds the national secretary of Nursind, Andrea Bottega, "is having to resort to legal disputes to be able to give Italian nurses, among the least paid in Europe, the well-deserved remuneration they are entitled to."
