Parking Dispute Ends in Tragedy: 74-Year-Old Kills Neighbor in Caserta

A 74-year-old is in jail for murder after being arrested yesterday afternoon in Parete, Caserta area, for killing his 60-year-old neighbor, Sebastiano Tessitore, during a fight over a parking space within the condominium spaces. The fight occurred in the inner courtyard of the Iacp building on Via 2 Agosto, witnessed by other people, including residents and relatives of the two men. The Carabinieri of the Aversa Company, who arrived at the scene following the witnesses' reports, reconstructed the dynamics through testimonies and the interrogation of the 74-year-old. 'The car does not park like that,' the latter had told his neighbor: a statement that triggered the fight, with both shouting and hurling insults, prompting residents and family members to descend into the parking area. Suddenly, the 74-year-old pulled out a gun, a legally held 9mm semi-automatic, and fired three times, hitting and killing Tessitore. At that point, the murderer, amid the screams of despair from those present, walked away back to his home, while the witnesses called the Carabinieri; they reached the 74-year-old at home, where they also found the gun, and arrested him, taking him to the station, where after the interrogation, the arrest was ordered by the Naples North Prosecutor's Office. There were no previous interventions by the Carabinieri for disputes between the two men, who likely had argued over parking in the common spaces in the past, without ever escalating. The 74-year-old, who has no prior record, had the gun because he used to work as a security guard, while the 60-year-old was a seasonal agricultural worker. Tomorrow the arrest of the 74-year-old is expected to be validated, and in the coming days, an autopsy will be performed on the victim's body.
