The Pompeii site this morning, until 12:00 PM, will be open only in the extra moenia section/ itinerary of the suburban villas, which includes Via dei Sepolcri after Porta Ercolano and the Villas of Diomede and Villa dei Misteri. Entrance for visitors will be possible from the external gate of via Villa dei Misteri (Porta Ercolano), where it will be possible to purchase the entrance ticket. Due to a union meeting that saw almost total participation of the workers, it was not possible to ensure the safe opening of the entire archaeological area. However, the Park has committed to ensuring the enjoyment of at least part of the site and with a minimum number of surveillance units, to then reopen regularly at the end of the meeting. For the occasion, an attempt was made to enhance the visit with openings of construction areas, both at the Villa dei Misteri and at the Villa of Diomede. To facilitate the reception of visitors, some officials of the Park together with the Director conducted visits in the construction areas present on that route. In addition, the Pompeii Artebus shuttle service was extended to Piazza Anfiteatro to allow visitors, waiting at that gate, to easily reach the usable area. Thanks to the support of the Municipality of Pompeii, the shuttle's road mobility along via Villa de Misteri was facilitated to speed up movements and guaranteed the support of law enforcement. The other sites of the Great Pompeii remained regularly open: Villa di Poppea in Oplontis, Villa Arianna and Villa San Marco in Stabia, the Archaeological Museum of Stabia Libero D’Orsi, Villa Regina in Boscoreale.
