Police Dog 'Neo' Teaches Schoolchildren about Drug Awareness

The 'Neo' dog of the Carabinieri's Dog Unit in Sarno held a lesson at school in Lacedonia. Under the guidance of its handler, accompanied by the local station's military personnel, it was the protagonist of a meeting with the students of the 'De Sanctis' Comprehensive Institute as part of the project 'Contributions of the Force to the formation of the Culture of Legality.' The day began with a first moment, during which the canine unit and the carabinieri proceeded to carry out checks in search of narcotics among the older children's desks, in common areas, and in the institute's bathrooms, all of which, fortunately, concluded with a negative outcome. In fact, no type of narcotic substance was found, and the students experienced this moment with great attention and serenity. Subsequently, 'Neo' and his handler entertained the young pupils and their teachers in some outdoor practical exercises where the dog was able to demonstrate all its abilities by finding the dummies impregnated with the scent of narcotics that were hidden in the most difficult places to find. A day dedicated to legality where the need to carry out the necessary checks on drug use by young people on one hand and leisure, entertainment, and love for animals on the other were reconciled, introducing both adults and children to one of the specialties of the Force such as the Canine Units.
