Port workers in Naples, Salerno, and Castellammare di Stabia are going on strike tomorrow. Among the reasons for the protest, a note from the trade union specifies, «the defense of the National Collective Bargaining Agreement for Ports, the safety and security of workers involved in port operations, and a fair wage that allows workers to regain their purchasing power».

«Overcoming the critical issues related to the protection and defense of the world of work - according to Angelo Lustro, the general secretary of Filt-Cgil Campania - can only be achieved through the defense and strengthening of the National Collective Bargaining Agreement for Ports and the system regulated by Law 84/94 which together have built a community made of workers, companies, and institutions that has represented and still represents the soul of Italian ports».

«The National Collective Labor Agreement - Lustro adds - does not only serve the function of wage adjustment but, by also regulating the mechanisms of work organization, gives a very important role to the representation of Workers, who unfortunately, in some realities, even today, are often ostracized within the workplace simply for wanting to defend their rights».

In Naples, a gathering with a picket is planned from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at the entrance of Varco Bausan and a demonstration in procession to Pisacane square, in front of the Authority's headquarters. In Salerno, a gathering with a picket from 10 am to 1 pm at the entrance of the Commercial port.
