Preliminary hearing in the trial on the serious road accident that occurred on the island of Capri on July 22, 2021, which claimed the life of the driver Emanuele Melillo. For the tragedy, which also caused the injury of several passengers, the defendants - before the judge of the fourth criminal section of Naples Carlo Bardari - are a doctor of the Atc (Capri Transport Company), the legal representative of the same company and an engineer, official of the Metropolitan City of Naples.
The judge, with the consent of the parties involved, has acquired documentation, surveys and some expert opinions, one of which on the victim's cell phone. The act, in essence, will streamline the procedure, avoiding the examination of some witnesses. Some witnesses have already been crossed off the list.
The Naples Prosecutor's Office contests the Atc doctor for not having subjected the deceased driver to control visits; to the legal representative of the Capri transport company for not having subjected the worker to controls despite having moved from the role of ticket inspector to the more delicate role of driver and, to the official, for not having provided for the placement of containment barriers where the tragedy occurred. The next hearing has been set for April 11.
