Pro-Gaza Intervention on Banksy's 'Madonna with a Pistol' in Naples

A pro-Gaza intervention was carried out overnight by unknown individuals on the glass protecting the 'Madonna with a Pistol' created by the English street artist Banksy in Piazza Gerolamini, in the historic center of Naples. On the glass, in addition to the adhesive inscription 'Gaza' placed on the head of the Madonna, a large stencil depicting a group of dead or dying naked children was placed. The intervention did not damage the work which, when it was discovered in 2016 and found to be original, was covered to protect it with a large metal frame by a neighborhood resident, Mariano Russo.
