Promoting Legal Culture in Schools: The Carabinieri's Educational Initiative

More than 100 students from the Secondary School "S. Angelo a Sasso" in Benevento welcomed the local Carabinieri company. The lessons involved students from the entire cycle of lower secondary classes, guided by the school principal Michele Ruscello and the teachers. Captain Emanuele Grio, commander of the company from the capital of Sannio, attended the meetings. The initiatives are part of the "Training for the Culture of Legality" project, which represents yet another step in the journey undertaken by the Carabinieri and the Provincial Command of Carabinieri of Benevento aimed at developing a path of growth through the dissemination of the culture of legality in educational institutions throughout the Benevento area and the province. During the interactive lesson, the Officer of the Carabinieri addressed topics such as bullying, cyberbullying, smartphone addiction (nomophobia) and social networks, identity theft, child grooming, issues related to episodes of domestic violence, gambling addiction, and the dangers of the dark web. The topics examined piqued the curiosity of the students who interacted with the Officer of the Carabinieri, who presented concrete cases to help the young people better understand the highly topical issues. Among the students' interests was also the Carabinieri itself: questions were asked about how to become Carabinieri and what course of study is required. Captain Grio also met with a representation of the young students' parents, warning them about the critical issues and dangers that could be hidden in the use of smartphones and Social Applications, very popular among young people. In the meetings, finally, the Commander of the Company of Benevento reiterated the fundamental role of the school, which must be a bastion of legality and a promoter of ideas of civic sense and active citizenship, always maintaining constant contact with the Carabinieri, which represents the tangible sign of the State's presence in the territory and of security for all citizens.
