Promoting, through the practice of sports, a support pathway as well as an opportunity for recovery for fragile subjects inserted in difficult contexts, more exposed to the risk of deviance and marginalization: this is one of the purposes of the Sports for All Prisons project (initiative promoted by the Minister for Sports and Youth Andrea Abodi through the Department for Sports in collaboration with Sports and Health SpA) presented this morning inside the Salerno Prison.

The project, which lasts 18 months, aims to support Associations and Amateur Sports Clubs and Third Sector Entities in the sports field to promote health and psychophysical well-being, facilitating the recovery of prisoners through sport as an educational tool and prevention of social and psychophysical discomfort, development and social inclusion, recovery and socialization, integration of groups at risk of marginalization and minorities.

The sports company leading the project - A.s.d. Avantgarde sport a.p.s. - chaired by lawyer Marco De Luca, will carry forward a sports program that includes the following activities for adult inmates of the Prison «Antonio Caputo»: Body building, Football (7-a-side), Football (8-a-side), Gymnastics for All, Volleyball and training activity for prisoners. The program aims at the involvement of 164 inmates out of 395 planned according to maximum capacity. The disciplines will cover all operational sections of the prison and will be aimed at three different types of recipients: common prisoners, female inmates and inmates of the «high security» section.
