Public Meeting on Bradyseism in Bacoli: Addressing Citizen Concerns

A public meeting, with the citizens, on bradyseism. A way to answer questions, the fears of the citizens: this is what will happen on Monday, May 6th at 3:30 PM, in the Sala dell'Ostrichina of the Royal Bourbon site of Fusaro, in Bacoli. Organized by the Campania Region, Department of Civil Protection, and the Municipality of Bacoli, after the greetings from the prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, the Regional Councilor for Security, Mario Morcone, the Councilor for Civil Protection of the Municipality of Naples, Edoardo Cosenza, delegate of the Mayor of the Metropolitan City of Naples, and the mayor of Bacoli, Josi Gerardo Della Ragione, space will be given to the citizens' questions on the issues related to the bradyseismic phenomenon, volcanic risk, and civil protection planning. To provide a comprehensive overview of the various topics that will be proposed, both from a scientific and technical point of view - it is stated in a note - the head of the Department of Civil Protection of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fabrizio Curcio, his deputy Titti Postiglione; the general director of the Civil Protection of the Campania Region, Italo Giulivo; the director of the Volcanoes Department of the INGV, Francesca Bianco; the director of the Vesuvius Observatory of the INGV, Mauro Di Vito; the president of the Interuniversity Consortium Reluis (Network of University Laboratories of Seismic Engineering), Mauro Dolce with the scientific head of the same Center, Andrea Prota and the scientific head of the National Civil Protection Competence Center Plinius, Giulio Zuccaro. The objective of the initiative, which is part of the Communication Plan to the Population on bradyseism developed by the Campania Region within the framework of the Decree-Law 140 of October 12th last year and approved by a resolution of the Regional Council of Campania number 679/2023, is to offer the population the opportunity to receive all the useful information related to the risk at the Phlegraean Fields. The measures provided by the national planning on bradyseism will be illustrated and the state of implementation of the decree and the checks in progress will be discussed.
