The Public Prosecutor of Naples, Nicola Gratteri, visited yesterday the headquarters of the National Guarantor of the rights of persons deprived of freedom. The meeting - a note from the Guarantor informs - fits into "the framework of the broader institutional collaboration effectively started by the National Guarantor in recent days also with the Authorities of the Campania Region".
"The meeting between the Prosecutor of Naples and the Board of the Guarantor - the statement continues - then touched on the issues of criminal execution and some issues related to the prison facilities of the common jurisdiction, in particular the need to intervene on the health situation in prison, to plan actions aimed at reducing the also psychic discomfort of the detained persons and to work, together with the Prison Administration, on the prevention of the suicide risk".
"The President of the Guarantor Felice Maurizio D'Ettore and the Prosecutor Nicola Gratteri then assessed the opportunity of a joint action aimed at protecting the right to health of persons deprived of freedom also through the signing of possible Memoranda of Understanding that Prosecutor Gratteri has already proposed in various institutional venues", the note concludes.
