The operation is part of the actions scheduled on a periodic basis, to restore cleanliness and decorum in some of the most critical points of the city, by the working group wanted by Mayor Manfredi, coordinated by the Health Councilor, Vincenzo Santagada, with the Welfare Councilors, Luca Fella Trapanese, and Legality, Antonio De Jesu, the participating companies Napoliservizi and Asia Napoli, the Local Police and social service operators.
At the end of the intervention, a whole dumpster for waste collection was filled with clothes abandoned by the homeless, mattresses, cardboard, and food residues. «More and more people are slipping into extreme poverty, and institutions must try to counteract this dramatic problem upstream - explained Councilor Santagada - our effort is to intervene periodically in these places, which are often the most emblematic of the city, to bring them back to conditions of hygiene and decorum».
«Actions like today's are organized over time - added Councilor Trapanese - the social services and the street unit have always worked preventively with the people who occupy these places and everything took place in absolute tranquility. A solution was proposed to everyone at our communities and reception centers; many accepted, others did not, but we continue to try to bring everyone back to better living conditions».
