Railway High-Speed Project Delays Due to Unforeseen Conditions

The president of the board of directors of Gesesa, Domenico Russo, intervenes on the braking of the Region and technicians regarding the works that would have necessitated the interruption of the water supply for 48 hours for the High-Speed Railway. 'On Tuesday afternoon, the Region - he recalls - communicated the postponement of the works on the high-speed railway track to a date to be defined, attaching photos to document the state of the various construction sites after the recent rains. Gesesa had started organizing days ago to try to manage the important water interruption over the weekend as best as possible. The unforeseen is physiological, so I understand the need to postpone and also appreciate the swiftness of the decision by the responsible regional officials, marked by the utmost caution.' In view of future interventions, however, Russo urges 'the technicians working on the high-speed line in our province to bear in mind that when interference with the Biferno water pipeline is eliminated, not only are complex technical issues addressed, but significant inconvenience is also created for several tens of thousands of citizens of Sannio. Therefore, while it is good to invite citizens to be understanding of such important works in the name of the progress of our territory, an aspect to which we collaborate with conviction, I believe it is even more important to invite those who are involved in such works to have the utmost consideration for the citizens.' 'I am certain,' he concludes, 'that the times for the execution of the works on the Biferno water pipeline will be reduced to the minimum necessary, thanks to the commitment of a large number of personnel, meticulous planning, as well as the use of a high quality standard during execution. I am equally sure that there will also be the utmost attention from the Region to protect the citizens of Sannio who will have to face considerable sacrifices due to future water interruptions.'
